What’s been going on? And what do I have planned?

First off, I want to start by saying “HELLO!!!”. I have missed blogging like CRAZY but my schedule did not allow time for me to keep up during the school year. But now that summer is here I have time to prioritize blogging. I am so glad school is over, at least for the next 2 months. While in school I figured a couple of things out, and even if I was not actively blogging it was still in the back of my mind. Blogging and bullet journaling have now become a summer thing. A way to give me something to do and organize how I’ll do it. That brings me to my next point….. my pre-highschool summer bullet journal! I have decided to create a bullet JOURNAL (emphasis on journal) as a way to look back on the summer before freshman year. When I am a senior I want to look back and see what I was like. I will get into it in my next post but for now I just wanted to give y’all a little background on what has been happening lately and what I have planned happening for the future!

5 Apps ALL Bloggers Need

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season! Now that we are in the new year, it is time to discover some new apps! Specifically apps that ALL bloggers need. I am a huge fan of just being able to manage my blog right in the palm of my hand so today I will be sharing with you my favorites apps that I believe all bloggers need!

Blog Managing App

That is right! The first app every blogger should have is an app where they can see their blog site, manage posts, or customize what their blog looks like. I personally use the WordPress App  since I have a WordPress blog but you can see if the platform you use has an app that you can use to easily manage your blog. This may seem like an obvious app to have and while it is obvious it can be easily over looked. If your platform does not have an app another easy solution is to use some way to access the internet and just save the link to your blogs managing page to your home screen for super easy access.

Photo Editing App

Every blogger should include photos in their blog posts so you need some way make those photos look less blah and more ooh lala. Some of my favorite apps to use for editing my photos are AviarySnapseed by GoogleAdobe Lightroom, and VSCO Cam. All of these apps have their own functions but you just have to choose the ones that work the best for you.

Analytics App

I am very guilty of checking my blog stats several times a day, so I like have one app that I can just open and easily see how my precious little blog is doing. Some platform apps have this feature already built in but if yours does not Analytiks and Google Analytics are great options that are also super easy to use!

Blog Reader

One of the most amazing parts about writing a blog is meeting new people online and learning about different blogs in the process. Every blogger should love to read other blogs  so why make it more complicated then it should be? Bloglovin is an app where you can easily read other blogs that you follow and even see new blogs that fit your interest. I have also been using Pocket to save posts for later if I am out and about but do not have time to read a post. These are both really simple ways to make reading blogs less bothersome.

Idea Board

Whether is it using Pinterest or just the Notes app on your phone, having a way to organize you ideas for you blog or even find new ones is probably the most important app any blogger needs! I do not know what I would do if I did not have any way to organize my ideas for this blog!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post of 5 Apps All Bloggers Need! Hopefully this helped you understand what apps you need as a blogger. Even if you are not a blogger, I hope you enjoyed learning about what goes into creating a decent blog post 🙂

If you have an questions or comments you know where to put them and as always: keep your comments short, sweet, and to the point!

Why I Quit Bullet Journaling!

Hey there! In my last post I had announced that I stopped bullet journaling. That was a big deal for me as I had based this blog on Bullet Journaling so if I stopped Bullet Journaling I would have no content to post. That inside argument in my head turned into a whole 5 month fiasco until I realized that I should write content based on what I enjoy. If my audience changes that it ok but I just want to write about something that I care about, not something that I dread to write about.

The reason that I stopped was simple. I just did not want to do it anymore. In the beginning it was fun and I enjoyed getting my day started by planning my day out. I still do enjoy that, but that lazy side of me was so tired of do the same old thing every morning. Don’t get me wrong, I love structure but that may be why I stopped bullet journaling. I had to much freedom and I did not know what to do. I could sit there for hours just trying to think of a cool font to use or which color my header should be. I am not saying that you should not bullet journal, I am just saying that it takes a certain kind of person. On some particularly eventful days I may whip out my bullet journal as someway to organize my life but the truth is I don’t live a busy enough life to want to put so much effort into my to-do list. I know bullet journaling is more than just a to-do list, but that was my bullet journal’s main job. After about a month of bullet journaling I decided to give my self a little break. That little break led to me never picking it up again. Just because I did not stick with bullet journaling does not mean that just gave up, it just means that I moved on from something that was holding me back. My days were starting to get unproductive and I was starting to resent starting my day knowing that I had to Bullet Journal. I thought that I had to write in my Bullet Journal for the day if I wanted my day to be productive. I realized that I do not need to Bullet Journal if I wanted to be productive, I just needed to put effort in. That is not to say I will never pick up a Bullet Journal every again, but right now I do not need one. Maybe in the future when my life becomes more go,go,go and less where are my ear buds I will have the need for that level of organization Now this all may sound very dramatic, but that is what I do! Plus it makes it more interesting to read so it is a win-win.

I hope you enjoyed this post on Why I Stopped Bullet Journaling! If you did, don’t forget to leave a reply, and if you have any questions or request you know where to put them!

I am BACK!!!

Hey there! After 5 months, I am back. I took an extremely long break as I was having trouble figuring out what kind of content I wanted to post. I have decided to stop bullet journaling for now, therefore suspending posts about Bullet Journaling. I will go more into detail about why I stopped Bullet Journaling in another post, but for now I will just say it wasn’t what I needed anymore. I will be posting once a week, maybe 2 twice if you are lucky. I have a bunch of ideas for some new posts so expect to hear from me again soon. With school being extremely busy and all it has been hard to find time to blog, but school has slowed down allowing me time for more things I love. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.

If you have a request do not to forget to leave them down below. Keep your comments short, sweet, and to the point.

The Answers: Part 1

Hey there! I am finally getting into a schedule so bear with me, but here is todays blog post!

I have always wanted to start a blog and when I finally did I worried about bringing a personal aspect to my blog posts. I thought what better way to bring that aspect then a Q & A! This new series will let you ask me (almost) anything you would like whether it be about my blog or my personal life! I am so excited to see where this series ends up going.

To kick off this series I compiled 5 questions …. gotta start somewhere, right?  Without further ado, here is The Answers: Part 1!

What are some of your favorite artists, museums, writers, books, or movies?

My favorite artist would have to be Dali, my favorite museum would be the Field Museum in Chicago, my favorite writer is Ally Carter, my favorite book(s) are The Book Thief and Me Before You, and my favorite movie is The Sound Of Music.

What are your plans and goals for Utter Essence?

I don’t really have a real plan. The only kind of plan I have is to wing it as inspiration comes and goes. Now for my goals, I just want to continue Utter Essence for as long as possible and become more creative along the way. If I had to pick a goal about what heights my blog could reach it would be 100 follows (maybe, I don’t know)!

What are some facts about you?

To keep this short I will only do 3:

1. I love to be outside

2.My favorite animals are bears and dog (weird combo)

3. My favorite colors are blue and green

Do you play any instruments or sports?

For instruments I play clarinet and piano

For sports I play soccer

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Veinna, Virginia

Thank you for reading, and as all ways I hope you enjoyed! Now it is your turn ask questions down in the comments or message me on social media! What do you think about this new series? Don’t forget to follow so you are notified when I post! Please comment or message me with feedback and new post ideas!

Until next time, Zoey

Summer: Expectation vs. Reality

Summer is supposed to be this wonderful, warm, adventurous break from school that we all look forward to. I personally do not enjoy summer that much (that is a topic for another time), but I still want to have fun with friends and do a bunch of awesome things with family before I have to go back to school! Everyone has expectations for summer, but what is the reality of it all?

Let me know in the comments or message me on social media if you can relate or enjoyed this post. Also let me know if you have any ideas for future Expectation vs. Reality posts!

I hope you enjoy this post, and I apologize for my lack as posting lately as this took a lot longer than I expected! So now that I am done rambling, here are the Expectations vs Reality: Summer Vacation Edition

Expectation You are gonna spend every walking moment with you friends and party non stop

Reality  You attempt to plan awesome adventures but never pulling through

Expectation  You are going to pick up a ton of awesome new hobbies and skills

Reality Your only hobbies are binge watching TV and your only skills are being able to spend days without sleep and shove inhumanly amounts of food in your body

Expectation You are going to get fit and eat healthy to achieve that summer body

Reality  You gain 10 pounds then promise to eat healthy and workout only to give up 5 minutes in (ok, maybe 10)

Expectation You are going to be carefree and go with the flow

Reality Find 100 more things to worry about

Expectation Spending time outside 24/7 since the weather is finally warm enough to go swimming

Reality  You spend all of your time indoors, on the couch of course, since the only pool you swim in is your pool of sweat

Expectation Sleeping in everyday, even weekdays

Reality Your brain is still on school schedule until 3 days before school starts

Expectation Having time to finally organize, clean, and redecorate your room

Reality Shoving stuff in the back of the closet until you actually have to prepare for school

Expectations Going on an awesome summer vacation

Reality Spending most of your summer at camps then putting the weekend at your grandparents house off until last minute

Expectations You are going to complete summer bucket list items every day or 2

Reality  Your parents nag you to do chores every 5 minutes

I hope you enjoyed this post, as I wanted to try to do something a little different! This post was (as always) so much fun to make. If you have any feedback or ideas please comment or  message me on social media! ♥

Until next time, Zoey

Workout Plans for Beginners

I didn’t intend to be posting content about health and fitness on this blog but who cares. Lets get started!

Working out can often be a daunting task, and planning your workouts can help relieve the stress of having to workout. I needed a workout that wasn’t too hard yet would still challenge me and actually work. I did tons of research and got into the “I need to know everything about this topic” mode. After countless websites, apps, and blogs, there just wasn’t a workout that appealed to me. So on my final effort, I went to google images. There I found countless workout plans for beginners that all had aspects that I liked and other aspects that were not as appealing. So I just typed them all up on a google docs document. This has been working great for me as there are times that I want a plan for the whole week or month, and there are other times that I just want to quick workout. These WorkoutPlans can all be done out doors or in doors (this Florida heat is too much). Click the blue “workout plans”to get a free printable that has helped me and that will hopefully help you in finding those perfect workouts!

I am also working on a list of meals that are yummy yet healthy to go along with your workouts to get the max results so expect that soon!

I hope you enjoyed this post and please comment or message me on social media with ideas for future posts or feedback! This is much appreciated! Don’t forgot to follow for notifications whenever a new post is up! I apologize again for my sales men approach as I am still learning!

Thank you for reading!

Why I Love My Bullet Journal

Brand new bullet journal! So in love !

Bullet Journals are the new craze when it comes to journaling!
Every one is making one, and to be honest they can sound (and look)
very intimidating! When I finally found the gut and time to start one, I was utterly* confused. I had no clue where to start or what to write about!

Let me just say, I am the most controlling perfectionist there is. With that being said,  I have always wanted to be organized but I was just too plain lazy. Once I finally got the ball rolling I understood the craze! They are so amazing! My Bullet Journal has helped me be more organized and efficient and they just are really fun to do ( they also look very put together). I had no idea how much they would help in literally just 3 days! I have been more efficient these past 3 days then in the entire summer. My favorite part is that you can put what ever you want in it! Bullet Journals don’t judge you or your choices! There is so much (or so little) that can go into creating your prefect bullet journal that the stationery-holic inside me goes crazy. There are no limits to a bullet journal which make it just that much more utterly* amazing!

*I am sorry but I just had to

Thank you so much for reading! If you have any feedback of suggestions please comment or message me on social media! I sound like a sales person in this post so I sincerely apologize! Feedback is much needed! Hope you enjoyed my first real post!

Toodles, Zoey
